I wish I had realized this when I was 23, but I had to spreadsheet a bunch of marketing plans and make a lot of PowerPoint slides before I was ready to admit it. Lord help us all if I ever have to create another GANTT Chart -- it just ain't me!
All of that time in the marketing trenches did teach me a lot about customers, though, and about how campaigns work and about print production and HTML and SEO and on and on. It pays to be a Jane of All Trades for a while. For example, if forced at knife point, I could quickly hand-fashion a POP stand out of cardboard and Spray Mount. And ask me about the time I publicly accepted a fundraising check from a man wearing leather chaps.
Yes, I've learned a lot, especially about health care, a path I never expected to stay on this long, but one that has remained interesting through many twists and turns. I have also written a good bit about the energy industry and a weirdly huge number of words about television. In the middle of all that, I'm a songwriter, as well. It looks funny on paper, but all of these creative endeavors have allowed me to sharpen a voice that I hope comes across in the handful of samples to be found here. Thanks for reading.
